Breaking news: HS2 construction vehicle moves in to take down beloved ancient pear tree in South Cubbington wood
Construction workers for HS2 are taking down the ancient pear tree in South Cubbington Wood.
Protestors against the high-speed tail project have started a vigil near the beloved tree which is believed to have been in the wood since before 1820.
Earlier this morning we reported how anti-HS2 campaigners had said the tree's "days are numbered" and their fears now appear to be coming true.
